| Bio: | I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Well-heads on fire off the border of Iran. I watched airplanes glitter in the dawn over New York State. All those moments will be lost in time, like diesel in flame. Time to die.  I now have a job as a Perl programmer. However, I've leaving the stuff below here until I think of something better to say. I am a Unix geek with four years of experience, currently seeking system administration or technical support work in central or south-east London. I am adept at installing, configuring and administering Linux and Windows systems on a variety of PC hardware, and have experience with Solaris, NetBSD, Win XP, Win2000, Win98 and Win95. I have experience supporting Microsoft Office, including getting rid of that sodding paperclip. I know SQL and can administer database management systems. I am familiar with TCP, IP and UDP, internet routing and many application-layer protocols including DNS, SMTP, HTTP and NNTP. I am comfortable working on large networks, and can quickly find users' warez, pr0n and mp3 collections. I have several years of experience with assembling, testing, repairing and upgrading PC and Unix workstation hardware. I am also an active member of the Bristol and Bath Linux Users' Group, where I help users less familiar with Linux to install, configure and administer their systems. My experience in customer-facing jobs means I am able to handle questions, requests and complaints in a calm, professional manner while retaining my commitment to providing the best possible service. No customer deaths have ever been attributable directly to me. I hold a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Bath, and continue to develop my skills beyond the academic environment. My work is careful and methodical, and I am willing to improvise in situations where standard procedures and resources are not available. I am adaptable, with the ability to react quickly to change (and even more quickly to paper money).
