Tomorrow I'll be on a 20-mile sponsored walk along the Thames Path to raise money for BLISS, the charity for improving the chances of survival for premature babies.

It's in support of BLISS to commemorate the organiser's two nieces, who were born last year at just 25 weeks, and who are both deeply missed.

We are walking from Hampton Court to Windsor, with a lunch break at the ten-mile point in Chertsey. You can sponsor us by going to http://www.justgiving.com/blisswalk. Any and all support is welcome and very much appreciated. If nothing else, sponsor me for getting up at some horrible hour of the morning to get to Hampton Court by nine o'clock.

Very good cause! And hey, whenever I've done a road race or charity walk here, we've had to get there at like 7 am, so 9 is actually pretty good!

I take it they were twins? Did they live for any amount of time? I'm really sorry to hear about that. I think I may have told you, I had two sisters who passed away, both premaure, so this is a subject near to my heart.

Hi there,

I'm a friend of Natalie, the organiser of the walk. I'm very sorry to hear about your sisters - I imagine you still think about them a lot. We hope to raise the chances of other premature babies with the money from the walk. BLISS also supports the parents, helping them come to terms with what has happened and helping them to stay near to their children, who are often far from home.

Yes, the two girls were twins, and that is the main reason for their premature birth. Lucy lived for 16 days, Kristina lived for 20 days.

Thanks.

Michelle

Thanks for your encouraging words! I have been baking flapjacks (the granola bar things, not the pancakes) to have as snacks on the walk, and I am waiting for them to cool so I can wrap them up. As soon as I've done that, I'm off to bed.

I'm really sorry about your sisters. I hope that the money we raise will mean some other family doesn't go through something that awful. I will think of you if I feel discouraged along the way.

I will give you some money for having done this. (It is too late for you to have read this of course).

I am not healthy enough in my joints to walk that far in one day. I think you are doing a good thing.
